Thou Shalt Fund My Stupid Films Because I'm Entitled. Period!!

HEHEHEHEHE!! Lefties are whining and crying wolf because the teat may be drying up.

What makes these spoiled children believe that it's government's duty to support the arts with no strings attached? Hell, it's not even government's duty to support the arts, if it chooses not to. Do they think it's in some universal declaration of human rights somewhere that the government must pay them to produce something that might offend? Is it in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms? The Ten Commandments? Where is it?

Look, dingbats, no one is stopping film makers from raising money to produce a film. It's not censorship to impose rules on the giving of grants or tax breaks. Try getting a grant from any philanthropic organization without meeting the criteria they set. Ditto for corporate sponsorship. If your idea is good, someone should be willing to fund it. If it sucks, don't blame anyone but yourself. There was a time when someone had to be very, very good in order to attact moneybags patronage. You know. Talent. Merit. Salability. As in Beethovan. Picasso. Hemingway. Bergman. Callas. These people and many, many others achieved distinction in the arts without government help. Grow up!!!

Daimnation agrees.

Excuse me? You're defending the government's right to give money to films IT thinks is fine. This bill is wrong for both the taking away of funding from Canadian cultural productions, and in shaping the culture toward only the political bend of those in power.

Either call for a killing of all funding to the arts by the government, or admit that his half measure is not about removing government from dictating the arts. It's about shaping it.

You're lame brain argument is excused. Just WTF do you think the National Film Board, the Canada Council and the CBC have been doing for the past sixty years' if not "shaping" the arts. And the Film Board, especially, has changed its mandate changed several times.

And no one - NO ONE - has to depend on government funding to produce art. There are alternatives, so cut the stupid crap about censorship of and "shaping" art. There are hundreds of private foundations out there as well as corporations willing to sponsor artistic endeavors.

You are suggesting that anyone who fails to obtain financial support from any private funder should automatically be funded by government. Why is that, Saskboy? Are you a member of that august body known as The Entitled? There is no granting organization in the world that doesn't have strings attached to its donor policy. Get over it.

Always misunderstood, eh Sean. So sad.

But buck up. There's always room for improvement in your communications prowess.
