A stubble jumper is a prairie farmer. I'm from Saskatchewan and my dad was a farmer, so the name is apt. "Redneck" needs no explanation. It's anyone who disagrees with a lunatic leftie. My blog is mostly about the Middle East but other issues also catch my eye and get me going. I monitor comments to keep out trolls and lunatic lefties. Anyone who is zealously anti-American and anti-democracy in the Middle East is NOT welcome.

You know, I was really bummed that things got violent, and there was vandalims, because I just encourage more minor vandalism, like pouring red dye in places, and defacing signs, you know.

The past is the past. It's gone. To me, this just reflects the intense narcissism that has imbued our younger generation. They are so good, so pure, so important, so hard done by.

Get used to it guys, the economy is going to suck for a long while, and there isn't going to be a lot of money around. Just like when I was a kid. I have practise. You don't.
Yup. I had a smirk on my face when that one guy suggested using the five circles of the Olympic symbol and posting it for the whole world to see and that would immediately convince/educate everyone that "these issues" are real and pressing. Yeah right. The only thing that is liable to be accomplished by that is to show the world was idiots they are. As if the world hasn't seen these sorts of protests before.
They've been coming out of the woodwork and slithering out from beneath their rocks at virtually every major global gathering for the past twenty to thirty years and have accomplished exactly zero, yet for some reason, they think they are getting their message across.
I have news for them. There is a message getting across, but it's a message pointing at you and it's not very complementary.
Oh, and I grew up during the 60's and early 70's when protest was so cool. I can identify with a younger generation that feels they are "so good, so pure, so important, so hard done by". I think youth should be idealistic, but maybe not so naive. What pisses me off is the older folks, like Dawg and Balbulican, who should really know better, having lived a few more years in the real world.
The world is not a perfect place and it never will be. I'm pretty certain both of those fools have vested interests in maintaining the mythology of the leftist ideologue. A union boss and a captain of the Indian Industry. Money. Money. Money. Money.
I would like to see "wearing a disguise at a public protest" punishable - somehow, financially, incarceration, whatever. Don't know if it would stop these men though, as they are likely all men.
I'm a big believer in the "broken windows theory" - whereby small violations should be taken very very seriously.
I like that idea. Arrest 'em before they start smashing windows. They are obviously intent on not being identified, which, logic would dictate, means they are up to doing something punishable by law.
I agree with the broken windows thingy, too.
I wonder how many of these protesters were from other countries, or were they all home grown?
You'll notice in the vid in this entry that the Mohawk figure prominently in the protest. I guess they couldn't find enough local Indians to do the job and had to import them from 4,600 kms away.
I think they should have proper riot trucks with powerful water cannons. When these punks are starting to assemble, a P.A. system warning: If there is any public property damaged in any way, by anybody, the water cannons open up on the entire crowd.
anybody who is found wet, will be charged and fined with a 'significant' penalty. One warning, no exceptions. "Disperse or be charged"
I'm all for the Charter Right to peacefully assemble, and that right should be protected. But anarchy or vandalism should not be.
A wet protester can avoid a fine by divulging the identity of a person causing damage.

Not a bad idea. There'd be lots of whining about it, though. You mention public property and your taxes. Even if it was private property, which I think was the case here, it's still costs. People who work in those buildings may not be able to go to work, depending on how severe the damage. If the space is occupied by a business that is heavily customer dependent, there will likely be some loss of customers for a few days until they can get everything fixed. There's also insurance costs, etc., etc., etc.
What on earth they think they accomplish with this, God only knows.
