Oh, Those Journalists Journolisters!

Remind you of anyone?

Liberal journalists suggest government censor Fox News

"The very existence of Fox News, meanwhile, sends Journolisters into paroxysms of rage. When Howell Raines charged that the network had a conservative bias, the members of Journolist discussed whether the federal government should shut the channel down.

“I am genuinely scared” of Fox, wrote Guardian columnist Daniel Davies, because it “shows you that a genuinely shameless and unethical media organisation *cannot* be controlled by any form of peer pressure or self-regulation, and nor can it be successfully cold-shouldered or ostracised. In order to have even a semblance of control, you need a tough legal framework.” Davies, a Brit, frequently argued the United States needed stricter libel law."
I suppose this is one of those higher forms of patriotism.

Daniel Davies - this creep clearly doesn't read (or doesn't understand) his own paper...

I don't know if you're familiar with what's been going on in Canada over the past month or two, but we've seen the leftie media types, especially the one paid for by us, the tax payers, get themselves worked up into a big to-do.

Some big media company based in Quebec has announced they intend to start up a new news channel here in Canada which promises to offer centre-right point of view to counter the overwhelmingly left of centre broadcasting that dominates now.

Somewhere early on, the initiative was dubbed Fox News North and lefties have been going hysterical ever since. Without any evidence WHAT SO EVER, they've assumed it's going to be a carbon copy of the American Fox News channel, which they all agree is the worst thing that can ever happen, even though they have never watched the American Fox News at all, because, you know, unlike us folks on the right, they are soooo principled.

In any case, it's no holds barred, attempting to prevent it from happening, even to the point of getting an American based leftie organization to orchestrate an online petition against it. The mask has slipped and that's what I was referring to when I asked the question: "Remind you of anyone?"

I'm gratified to know Lefty Journoes are 'scared' because Fox News North is uncontrollable rather than factually wrong, much like here in Baja Canada.

I tell you Indigo, it would be funny if it wasn't such a cold, calculated, bloody obvious attempt to control what we are allowed to see, hear, read, etc..

I'm not sure the new channel will be approved by our nanny state agency (the CRTC = Canadian Radio Television Commission = Canada's answer to your FCC) that approves new networks, etc., since it too has been dominated by the appointees of the capital "L" Liberal Party, AKA, The Natural Governing Party, but if they don't I'm sure there will be hell to pay.

There may even be a fourth country appearing on the maps of North America the next time they're published. Conservative Canadians will be fleeing West from central Canada and points further East, and Ontario and Quebec will go down the tube, finally, starved as they will be, of Alberta and Saskatchewan oil.

It will be the most exciting thing to happen in Canada for a long time.

And we'll get to watch our very own Fox News North without mommy's permission. Woot!!

And just to clarify things for me, what does your last sentence mean: Is Fox News South "uncontrollable" or is it "factually wrong"?

The little clips on YouTube and whatnot that I have seen of it, suggest it's okay. There might be one or two overly strident anchors/personalities, among whom Bill O'Reilly is NOT one, but then again, the rest of the MSM has them, too, but their excesses lean very hard to the other side of the spectrum.

What I mean is that when the Left Press criticizes Fox News(US), it's usually to point to some imagined exageration or reportage of a story the Left doesn't recognize as important enough to be reported. Seldom is the criticism on the factual nature of the story, but rather that Fox executives can not or do not control their reporter's stories to the extreme extent the Left Press does, i.e., the story doesn't comport with the Left's position.

The Left also conflates the two sections of Fox. First there is Fox News which reports the news in a fairly unbiased manner. Second is the commentary/entertainment section with O'Reilly, Beck, and so on. The Left points to these guys as examples of Fox News when in reality it's just editorial comment and entertainment. The audience knows the differnece, but the left does not as exemplified by the fact that many Leftists admit they get their news from Jon Stewert's The Daily Show and Steven Colbert's The Colbert Report, both of whom are professional comedians doing schtick.

Just yesterday, Colbert testified before a Congressional committee as an expert witness on the plight of migrant farm workers at the behest of a liberal Congresswoman. Colbert had spent one day in the fields with some migrants and he was mostly just fooling around for the cameras and somehow that makes him an expert. Anyway, Nancy Pelosi later endorsed his testimony because "he's an American citizen and he has a point of view." Well so am I and I have one of those opinion things, but no one asked for my opinion, probably because I'm neither famous nor Leftist, but oh, well.

The Right Press today is criticizing Colbert's actions as clownish, mocking, and disrespectful while the Left Press is quoting him and saying how insightful his satire was. However, one Leftist Democrat Congressman asked Colbert to leave the hearing room altogether and not say another word. A sad day for Congress.

But you are funny! :p

Yes, I saw video clips of Colbert's "testimony". Guess it sorta backfired on the Dems.
