A Medical Breakthrough

Cardiologist proves shovelling can kill
"And it took a newcomer from Argentina to figure this out.

Dr. Adrian Baranchuk had heard that shovelling causes heart attacks, and when eight such patients turned up on his ward one day he tried to look up the scientific evidence to get the details. Only there wasn't any."

"The danger is four times greater for men..."

Uhu it figures. No more shoveling for me. Wait, we don't have snow here...

Ah...just like the climate change denialists are on the payroll of Evil Oil, this cardiologist is probably on the payroll of the evil capitalist snow-blower manufacturers.

BTW, when I owned a small house in the country, I succumbed to the Dark Side, buying a global warming snow-blower. I spent a lot of bucks to get a Consumer Reports highly rated Toro 5 hp "2 stage" (self-propelled) model. I also paid $100 extra for the electric start option(no yanking, yanking, yanking on a lawnmower-like cord on those cold, after-storm mornings to get the damn thing going.)

The first winter morning after a storm, after clearing a foot of snow from my longish, sloping driveway and the sidewalk around the house, I smugly congratulated myself on the wise investment.

My advice for prospective snow-blower purchasers: Don't go cheap. Spend the bucks to get a 2 stage Toro with electric start, the BMW of snow-blowers. You won't regret it.

Ya, I was wondering about that? Is that simply because men are four times as likely to be the ones doing the shoveling? If that's the case, I think we should be working towards making it 10 or 12 times as likely. Just my opinion.
