"Climate Change" Mania...

...well and truly dead:

Chinese Translation of Climate Change Reconsidered
"Climate Change Reconsidered, a two-volume report from the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) originally published by The Heartland Institute in 2009 and 2011, was translated into Chinese..."
[---]
"A workshop on climate change issues was held in Beijing on June 15, 2013, at which four of the authors presented their findings to members of the Chinese climate science community. The workshop was followed by a conference featuring the NIPCC’s work, hosted by universities in Beijing."
[---]
"“This is a historic moment in the global debate about climate change,” said Heartland Institute President Joseph Bast. “The translation and publication of Climate Change Reconsidered by a division of the prestigious Chinese Academy of Sciences follows strong statements by scientists affiliated with the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Sciences dissenting from claims that global warming is either man-made or a crisis. The trend toward skepticism and away from alarmism is now unmistakable.”"
When China admits there is no run-away warming, you know the warmanitas have admitted defeat.

Not only that, but it seems cows can resume farting:

Arctic methane bubbles will destroy 1/2 of your wealth

In the meantime, Saskatchewan has had a cold summer so far this year.

Though we are often on the same page, I really have to disagree on your climate warming position. Things are changing for the worse, no doubt about it. Let's not get into a big flaming argument but I expect even the climate change denialists will have to admit how wrong they were within 5 years. Hope you are still blogging so I can get to ask you if you want fries with the crow you're going to have to eat.

Paraphrasing Richard Feynman: Regardless of how many experts believe it or how many organizations concur, if it doesn’t agree with observation, it’s wrong.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), some politicians and many others mislead the gullible public by stubbornly continuing to proclaim that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is the primary cause of global warming.

Measurements demonstrate that they are wrong.

CO2 increase from 1800 to 2001 was 89.5 ppmv (parts per million by volume). The atmospheric carbon dioxide level has now increased since 2001 by 25.16 ppmv (an amount equal to 28.1% of the increase that took place from 1800 to 2001) (1800, 281.6 ppmv; 2001, 371.13 ppmv; June, 2013, 396.29 ppmv).

The average global temperature trend since 2001 is flat.

That is the observation. No amount of spin can rationalize that the temperature increase to 2001 was caused by a CO2 increase of 89.5 ppmv but that 25.16 ppmv additional CO2 increase had no effect on the average global temperature trend after 2001.

What the IPCC, the consensus, the Met office and Hansen & Co. are saying no longer passes the smell test. http://consensusmistakes.blogspot.com/

There's a big difference between believing in climate warming and believing in anthropogenic causes, Canuckguy.

The earth's climate have been far warmer than it is now without a corresponding spike in CO2. There have also been periods in earth's history were CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere have been much higher than they are today, but temperatures were not through the roof. Some of these periods occurred long before humans even began burning fossil fuels.

Then we have places like China which have CO2 outputs that are through the roof, but they are blaming the West and expecting to benefit from carbon credits.

It's the anthropogenic angle that has failed miserably. It is from among those who tout that line that we have people who claim there is consensus and that the science is settled, which is bunk.

It is from among those who tout that line that we have people whose predictions have fallen flat over and over again so they move the goal posts and rename the hysteria from global warming to climate change to climate instability like they don't know what they are talking about. And using the word denier - that's really classy.

It is from among those who tout that line that we have people whose predictions have fallen flat over and over again that we find people who hack into computers of their opponents and steal digital documents and engage in other criminal behavior. Not even trusting their own science they seek to silence their opponents, using methods that can only be described as barbaric.

People seem to forget(or never knew in the first place) that written historical records in addition to things like ice cores and tree ring analysis also tell us things about past climate. Grapes growing in Northern regions, for example. Agricultural settlements in places like Greenland fur traders reporting on old tree stumps that litter the Northern landscape.

Read what Samuel Hearne had to say during his trip to Canada's Arctic in the second half of the 1700s:

(That was before the anthropogenic global warmanistas got started, by a long shot.)

You can also refer to Roald Admunsen's historic passing through the Arctic Ocean in the early 20th century:

and the voyage of the RCMP boat, the St. Roche, in the 1940s:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Roch_%28ship%29

And remember those predictions that the prairies were turning into a dry, blazing desert? Well, last year we had record snowfalls. This spring we had record rainfall. And the month of July this year has been unseasonably cold.

I've lived long enough to see wild "climate" swings. I remember floods in the valley where I grew up (the Qu'Appelle) and other years where the Qu'Appelle River almost dried up, along with a good portion of Katepwa Lake, which is upstream from where I grew up. But I guess that's just "weather".

One thing climate has never been is stable.

Here's some interesting trivia from the animal kingdom. Did you know that hippos fart through their mouths? Really!

God must have been in a whimsical mood when He designed that curious animal. :-)
